Day trip · 09:00 – 13:00The Dionysades Islands are a small cluster of four islets north of the bay of Sitia, 9 nautical miles from the town of Sitia.
According to mythology, the islands were created by the god Dionysus, who was worshipped there and gave them his name.
On the eastern shore of Dragonara there is a cave where you may meet the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) as well as the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta). To the west, the wonderful natural rock "Columns" rise from the sea in a cluster formation. There is also the little chapel of Agios Antonios, a small house with a "sarnitsi" (cistern) and a simple little harbour with a beautiful beach.
Next to this little harbour lies a tiny but very beautiful beach with characteristic terracotta-red sand and a relatively rocky seabed.
